Old Kings In Exile
Old Kings in Exile: Brett Dean and Soundstream Collective was a concert presented on Friday, 19 July 2013 in Elder Hall. at The University of Adelaide.
Violist, conductor, and one of the most internationally performed composers of his generation, Brett Dean joined Soundstream Collective in an all-Australian program including Richard Meale’s iconic and magical sextet Incredible Floridas. Also featured are two of Dean’s favourite Australian contemporary composers, Anthony Pateras and James Ledger, as well as Dean’s Sextet: Old Kings in Exile.
The program included Brett Dean Sextet: Old Kings in Exile (2010), Anthony Pateras Broken, Then Fixed, Then Broken (2009), Richard Meale Incredible Floridas (1971), and James Ledger Sextet.
Performers included Brett Dean (viola, conductor), Erkki Veltheim (violin), Rachel Johnston (cello), Rebecca Johnson (flute), Peter Handsworth (clarinet), Andrew Wiering (percussion), Gabriella Smart (piano)
