Murray Bridge Piano Sanctuary Launch

  • Carey's Park 190 Mannum Rd Northern Heights, SA, 5253 Australia (map)

Join composer-performer Jesse Budel and percussionist Vanessa Tomlinson for the launch tour and concert of the Murray Bridge Piano Sanctuary, South Australia's first ruined piano sanctuary situated in native mallee scrub.

The tour of the Sanctuary will be led by Sanctuary curator and Associate Artistic Director of Soundstream New Music, Jesse Budel, exploring the journey and creative insights of each of the Sanctuary’s eight pianos donated by Murray Bridge and South Australian locals.

An improvised performance will follow, performed on pianola by Jesse and acclaimed percussionist and co-Artistic Director of Clocked Out Duo, Vanessa Tomlinson. The performance will be the first in a week-long series of improvisations on the pianola, where Jesse and Vanessa will drive the piano from the Murray Bridge Piano Sanctuary to the Piano Mill near Stanthorpe QLD, tracing the river lines that connect the two Piano Sanctuaries.

Walking shoes and picnic blankets/chairs are recommended.

This project was made possible by the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.

Presented by Soundstream New Music, Clocked Out Duo and the Rural City of Murray Bridge.
