Soundstream 2019 Emerging Composers’ Forum

From September 19-22, Soundstream will host the 4th edition of the Emerging Composers’ Forum (ECF), one of Australia’s most prestigious platforms for emerging Australian composers. The ECF provides emerging composers with professional mentorship, pubic performance, recording and audience exposure to their music. Five composers selected as finalists vie for three $4000 commissions.
This time we take our music to the Scrub. The 2019 ECF will focus on site-specific music making inspired by the unique surroundings of Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park, at Aldinga Beach in South Australia, and music making using found objects.

Following a national call for entries, the five emerging composers are Olivia Davies (WA), Luke Cuerel (QLD), Bea Hanna (SA), Christopher Williams (SA) and Elizabeth Jigalin (NSW).
Don’t miss the final concert of the five finalists’ works, recorded by ABC Classic FM for a later broadcast.
When: Sunday 22 September, 2pm
Where: ABC Studio 520, 85 North East Road, Collinswood.
The five finalists are mentored across the four day forum by three composer performers of international renown: Erik Griswold (USA/AUS), Catherine Milliken (GER/AUS) and Vanessa Tomlinson (AUS). Catherine Milliken is resident composer with Adelaide Symphony Orchestra 2018-2020.
The 2019 Soundstream Emerging Composers’ Forum is presented by Soundstream in association with the Australian Music Centre, Chamber Music Adelaide, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, University of Adelaide, Simon Hackett Wines and our broadcast partner ABC Classic FM. A huge thank you to all supporters of the ECF who donated generously to ensure its legacy, and to Arts South Australia for their vital support.
